It celebrates an individual who embodies everything great about the profession, demonstrating dedication, compassion and professionalism day in, day out. Are they a charity champion? A helpful hero? This is the award for the porter who consistently goes the extra mile for others.
DENNIS SOUTHERN
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT
This award is presented in honor of its first winner, Dennis Southern, a porter who showed commitment, dedication, passion and care through his career, and had a positive impact on every individual that met him. This award recognises a staff member who is more than just a porter. It is recognition of a lifetime commitment, a celebration of a longstanding member of the team and a role model for all.
PORTERING TEAM OF THE YEAR
This award celebrates a portering team that has consistently made a positive impact on its Trust. Beyond the well-known task of moving patients, portering teams carry out numerous essential duties that support healthcare. They deliver critical items like blood, medications and pillowcases, manage notes, provide directions, transport gases and respond to emergencies. This is for a team that goes above and beyond and shows the spirit that embodies portering - everyone puts their all in, together.
EXCELLENCE IN PATIENT EXPERIENCE
This award is to recognise an individual who goes the extra mile for a patient or visitor. Whether it's making a patient smile, easing their anxiety, or helping the patient journey run more smoothly, this porter stands out for their extraordinary efforts. Going above and beyond expectations, they think and act differently, putting people first and helping create positive experiences every day.
LEADERSHIP OF THE YEAR
Great teams don't happen by accident. This award recognises a manager, supervisor or team leader who inspires, develops and supports those around them, creating a culture where people can thrive. Through their ability to inspire, develop and support others, they have created a positive culture, encouraged high standards and made a meaningful difference to
their team and organisation.
NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR
This award celebrates a porter who has truly hit the ground running. From their first day on the hospital floor, they have demonstrated enthusiasm, professionalism and a willingness to learn. Whether through their attitude, commitment or early achievements, they have already made a positive impression on patients, colleagues and the wider team.
COLLABORATION
This award celebrates a porter who has worked collaboratively with other departments to improve services and enhance the patient experience. Through strong relationships, effective communication and a shared commitment to better outcomes, they have helped break down barriers, improve ways of working and demonstrate the value of collaboration across the wider healthcare environment. Whether supporting patient flow, streamlining processes or fostering stronger connections between teams, they have shown how working together can make a real difference.
INNOVATION
This award celebrates an individual or team who has embraced new ideas, technology or innovative ways of working to make a positive difference. Whether introducing a simple improvement or leading a larger change, they have challenged the status quo and shown creativity, initiative and a willingness to think differently, delivering benefits for patients, colleagues
or services along the way.
PEOPLE'S CHOICE
This award gives colleagues, patients and the wider healthcare community the opportunity to recognise an individual whose contribution has made a lasting impact. Selected from a shortlist chosen by the judging panel, the winner will be decided through public voting, making this a truly special recognition from the people who see first-hand the difference
